Have just seen that Sea Patrol season 5 starts in australia on Tuesday April 26th - which is next Tuesday!!

Last night was the short version, here's the long one (memory was helped by random jumble of words and phrases jotted on a post-it note last night....)

Wound up only starting to watch this at 10pm, curled up in bed with my computer on my knees. It's now 11pm, and I have to be up at 5.30 am, so this is a short reaction post until I can do a long, squee-filled reaction post in the morning - aren't you all looking forward to that? (Don't worry, it shall be behind a cut tag!)

So the high points:

Of all the new characters, I love Commander Maxine "Knocker" White the most!! Tammy was just brilliant, and I loved the way her and Mike bounced off each other. Totally bought that they were good buddies from AFTA.
Mike took the promotion!! Which means he and Kate shall shortly be on the HMAS Doing It (and I'm not convinced they haven't boarded already!)
Steve Bastoni is the new CO!! Dude, with him and Tammy it's a Police Rescue reunion!! (If they can get Gary Sweet or Sonia Todd on in some capacity, my head shall explode!!)

There is more, but as said above, I have an early start in the morning :-(

I'll be interested to see what Conrad Coleby is like in this - I've never particularly liked him in anything else I've seen him in, but in the previews he looks like he has the potential to be an interesting character.

As for Mike & Kate and the relationship, I think (and it's just my opinion) that they need to either get them together or put it to rest for good. Of course, if Buffer was still there I'd be pulling for him and Kate, I think Jeremy & Lisa have more chemistry than Ian & Lisa (realise I'm in the minority on that one!)

The title does interest me though; the night of the long knives was a purge that took place in Nazi Germany when the Nazi regime carried out a series of political executions. Given that Mike is resisting a promotion to Navcom and Tammy's character is basically replacing Steve Bisley, I wonder if theres political hikinks going on in Navcom?

And interestingly, the blurb for ep 2 refers to "a new commanding officer" - what does that mean for Mike?

I got to the point where it shows the all-star guest cast, Martin Sacks popped up and I literally gasped out loud - to the point my Dad asked what I was watching!! (Martin was PJ to Lisa McCune's Maggie in Blue Heelers. To see them sharing screentime again has been my dream!)

Though Mike describing Conrad Coleby's character as "our new Buffer"???

No Mike, he's not a patch on our Buffer!!!

It goes without saying that I'm going to miss Buffer; Conrad Coleby is in a lot of the trailer which does not excite me, I didn't particularly like him in either All Saints or Home & Away.

However s4 also has Tammy MacIntosh joining, which is AWESOME and MADE OF WIN.

Home from a weekend away with the folks (Bank Holiday weekend here in Ireland) and I had intended my first post to be about last week's Sea Patrol finale, which I still haven't blogged about!

However, courtesy of sea-patrol.com, it's been confirmed that 3 of the cast will not be returning to series 4. Jay Ryan (Spider), Saskia Burmester (Nav) and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor (Buffer) all decided not to renew their contracts with the series (I believe they all inititally signed for 3 years, which fits in with David Lyons having to ask to be let out of his a year early; but I'm open to being proved wrong on that.)

Spider, I'm not bothered about one way or the other. I liked him, but he wasn't one of my faves. Nav, I will miss, because I think Saskia is awesome. But I guess it makes sense that Nikki would want to move on after ET's death.

And that brings us to Buffer. Oh God, do I even have to TELL you how gutted I am about this??? Seriously dude, he was my absolute favourite!!! I can't even be all eloquent and ranty because I seriously DO NOT HAVE THE WORDS FOR THIS!

That being said, I don't blame Jeremy for wanting to try other things as an actor; that's understandable. Sucks for me as a fan, but that's life. And we'll always have DVD's (and fanfics!!)

On happier news, Dublin were beaten off the park today by Kerry in the All_ireland Quarter-Final; beaten by 17 points. Oh happy, happy, joyous day......

There will be a longer, more in-depth post in the morning (when I've hopefully stopped crying) but I just want to say one thing: CAN WE BE GIVING SASKIA A LOGIE NOW??????? Because she has been frakking awesome for the entire 13 eps.

I absolutely cannot believe that next week is the final 2 eps of the season!!! What am I going to do without my Sea Patrol fix????

A watched pot never boils, or in this case, a watched site never updates!! No sign of Sea Patrol anywhere on the web this evening, so it looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to see it... le sigh....

Although the good thing is that it's a double episode - whee!!!

To distract myself, I've started re-watching season one of Rush - season 2 started last Thursday in Australia, and it was brilliant!! Watched eps 1 and 2 last night, and 3 and 4 tonight - it just constantly amazes me how much I love Rodger Corser in this, considering I absolutely LOATHED him in McLeods Daughters!!

And the Grace and Josh hand hold in ep 3 is still one of the loveliest moments I've seen in any ship on any show!!!

Came home, sprinted upstairs to turn on the computer in order to download Sea Patrol.

Am smothered with a cold, thanks to getting soaked to the skin at a GAA match on Saturday night (but at least we win!) Am feeling very sorry for myself, so my plan for the evening was to curl up with a large bar of Galaxy chocolate and an ep full of Buffer/X goodness.

God laughs when we make plans people....

The site I usually use is down. Had to trawl (and I mean TRAWL) around the Internet before a second check of mininova showed a torrent. But the link was to a tracker site, so I had to register on that and then my email decided not to work!!!

Once I'd got that sorted and set the torrent up, there are no seeds available at present so nothing is happening!!!

And it's the ep I really, really want to watch!!!!

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
