Sea Patrol 3.10 and 3.11

smiley_bFINALLY managed to find these online - as ever, thoughts are below the cut....
Finally, a Charge episode!!! And I must say, John Batchelor did very well with this one - I really felt for Charge, especially in the scene at the bar where Jamie blanked him, and when Bomber made the comment about seeing a picture of his olds and they were both thin as sticks.
Buffer diving overboard.... I know Mike did it earlier on in the season, but this was just so much cooler!! (Not to turn this into a Mike vs Buffer debate or anything....) I definitely caught a bit of lingering Triangle going on when Mike was bawling him out on the bridge, whether that was intentional or not (probably not).
Buffer and his lady friend..... oy. OY. OY. I didn't like the actress when she was on All Saints as Charlotte's sister, and I don't like her in this ep either. She has all the range and acting ability of a plank of wood, and she had (in my opinion) ZERO chemistry with Jeremy, which quite frankly I didn't think was possible!! I mean, look at the man!!!! All those half lit scenes when he was in her appartment - smoking hot!!! (My recording had a small glitch in it where it repeated this scene a couple of times - anyone else have that problem?? <g>
Evil Buffer swapping the plates though.... I never want to get on his bad side!!! Though I was convinced that Spider had twigged what he'd done, so I was more than surprised that he let 2Dads go ahead and eat the meal.
Fire on the ship.... good Lord, that is 2 of my worst nightmares in one (fire and confined spaces). Uugh... I have the heebie jeebies just thinking about it.
Last word on this ep is that 2Dads, pain in the ass and all as he was, got THE line of the episode "Did we pass Ma'am?"
If 3.10 was the long awaited Charge ep, then this was the long awaited Bomber ep!!
There was some nice Bomber/Buffer interactions when she was diving to rescue Jilla and Brad - he was frantic when they lost the line! Anyone reading these rambles knows that I ship Buffer and the X, but I have to say that I could see him and Bomber together as well. (See my ramblings above, JLT could have chemistry with a block of wood.... but not the actress who played his love interest. Totally on her!!) Also nice Bomber and RO stuff as well - I continue to completely adore Kristian Schmid, his delivery of the MRSA line at the end was just brilliant. I never thought when I watched him in Neighbours all those years ago - Christ, I'm aging myself here, aren't I? - that he had this sort of comic timing in him.
Speaking of comic timing, Drunk!2Dads and Drunk!Buffer have to get a mention here. Actors say that playing drunk is actually one of the hardest things to pull off, but JLT managed it with aplomb!!! I cracked up when he was shadowboxing in front of Mike, and I loved 2Dad's realising there was no point in trying to bullshit Mike when he was so completely and obviously hammered out of his skull!!
Strange to see Tasma Walton playing a bad girl - she'll always be Dash McKinley to me!! Come to think on it, she had very few scenes with Lisa in this, which was a shame.
Last thing I'm going to ramble about is, of course, the continuing mystery of ET's death. OK, it's obvious that Fulton is not a reformed character, and that the Robsenns are far from the innocents they made out they were back in 3.01. That said, I can undertsand why Swain is so reluctant to believe Nikki - they've covered their tracks so well that she is coming off as the devastated fiancee, who's gone demented with grief.
The moment I did really like (surprise surprise) was the moment at the car between Buffer and Nikki. Just the way he told her that ET always had his back, 200%, in that straight up tone, no bullshit, no messing round, just straight to the point which is what Nikki both needed and wanted to hear. See earlier point about JLT having chemistry with everyone...

The shot at the end of the ep - Nikki firing the gun with such grim determination - was absolutely stunning and actually sent a shiver down my spine.I would not like to be the person she was imagining on the other end of the gun.. .
I absolutely cannot believe that next week is the final 2 eps of the season!!! What am I going to do without my Sea Patrol fix????
