Just saw this on Twitter - Anthony Geary QUITS General Hospital!!!

My jaw literally hit the floor.... though it makes sense after last weeks news that Genie is coming back - is it too much to hope that Luke and Laura can just walk into the sunset together?

But most of the time I feel like I've nothing to say!!! So here we go with a bullet point list to break the duck......

+ had an amazingly productive day at work; which may have had something to do with the fact that the EHS Manager, who I work closely with, was on a days annual leave, so I was able to get heaps done without him throwing more at me! (He's a delegator, but he fires so much stuff at me that when he asks why haven't I got (A) done, I have to reply "because you got me to do D, E, F and G after that! Full capacity here!!" Which is quite annoying. Especially when the guys on the team get swamped and I get some of their workload as well as my own. Grr)

+ Rookie Blue is back on Thursday!! I has All The Feels!!!!!

+ I have started watching Arrow. Holy Moly, why did no one tell me it was so good!! Already, I am multi-shipping like crazy (only watched up to ep 7, but am spoiled for the events of the finale..... not happy!!) The cast is awesome, with the exception of Katie Cassidy, who I'm sure is a lovely person but I think, acting wise, she is the weakest link there. And watching Paul Blackthorne play someone totally different to his usual sauve, debonair type is just a revelation (the accent!!)

+ Need to start posting my 100things list again. I have savagely been neglecting this.

+ Soap wise, I am in love with Elizabeth and AJ on GH. They are so smiley and pretty together!! (and I refuse to acknowledge that thing with Carly. It never happened!!)

Am filing this under "Holy Mary Mother of God, I can't believe GH managed to pull this one off!!

clickety click..... )

Thoughts anyone??

Today has been a bumper day for GH casting news!!

First, Brandon Barash is out as Johnny!

Then, Vanessa Marcil and Ingo Rademacher are back as Brenda and Jax for the 50th anniversary! ([ profile] leobrat was the first person I thought of when i heard that!)

And now, Marcy Rylan (ex-Lizzie Spaulding on GL) is announced as the new Lulu Spencer!! Which I'm delighted about - I loved her as Lizzie!!

All this serves as a nice distraction from real life - a man was shot dead in the car park of the local pub this afternoon - it is literally 5 minutes walk away from my house! Passed by there on way home - Garda cars and tv news vans all over the place. Scary stuff.

Holy Moly, this has been a long week. I was in work on Thursday and couldn't believe that it was only Thursday; it felt like it should be next Wednesday!!

That said, work is good - crazy busy, but I have to say that I'm finding being in an open plan office is doing wonders for my productivity!! Am developing a nice project that will not only keep me nice and busy and give me something to stick my teeth into; but also has the potential to raise my profile in the company, so that's kind of exciting!

In other news, I bought a new car today! Current car is 3 years old, and once it hits 4 years old here it has to go for an NCT test every 2 years..... plus my dad is big on changing cars every 2-3 years so you get the maximum trade in value out of it..... And of course I brought him with me as he drives a very hard bargain (last time out he almost made the salesman cry!) so I wound up with a very nice deal! Should have it in 10-14 days - very excited!!

Is it wrong that I'm developing an interest in this years American Idol because Keith Urban is on the panel?

And because I just posted on leobrat's LJ about this - I am SERIOUSLY LOVING Elizabeth and AJ on General Hospital! They are so sparkly and awesome and displaying some serious chemistry - it's a real, old-fashioned slow burn of a romance (as opposed to the insta-romance we've become accustomed to seeing on GH!) and I am so enjoying it! (And crossing fingers and toes that the writers don't eff it up!)
smiley_b: (Default)
+ KELLY AND VAL ARE GOING TO THE FINALS!!!! Seriously, this is brilliant news to wake up to on a dark Wednesday morning! I have absolutely no doubt that Golden Boy is going to win another mirrorball trophy, but I would love to see either Kelly/Val or Melissa/Tony cause a huge upset next week....

+ I've started watching some soaps on YT again.... GH is really kicking ass and taking names these sweeps, AJ's return has really impressed me and it feels like a soap again, if that makes any sense at all! Am DREADING watching yesterday's clips though - seeing the gifsets on tumblr have already made me teary!

+ Greg Vaughan started on Days of our Lives last week, so I've been YTing his scenes as well - I've mostly given up on Days, because as a fan of Jack Devereaux and Matt Ashford, there are really only so many times you can watch your favourite character be killed off. (I can't believe I just typed that sentence....) But I like what I've seen of his Eric so far, and the sibling chemistry he has with Ali Sweeney was nothing short of adorable. Unfortunately, they're telegraphing the story like crazy - if this isn't Days take on The Thorn Birds, I'll eat my hat! (Though I did love Meggie and Father Ralph!!)

+ Have been listening to "Just a Fool", the Blake Shelton - Christina Aguilera duet on repeat since last week because it's so damn good, delighted to see them perform it on The Voice this week! You all need to listen to this one!

Per tv guide, Steve Burton is OUT at General Hospital!

Not exactly a surprise in the sense he's made noise about going before, but I'm not gonna lie, my jaw hit the floor when I saw this on twitter!!

Gotta love the last twitter check before I turn out the lights....

Apparently ABC have cancelled The Revolution and renewed General Hospital for another year!!

And Crystal Chappell is headed to B&B - she's playing Caroline 2.0's second mother! Haven't seen any of Caroline 2.0's scenes, but I think the character is an interesting addition to the canvas (Caroline is the only one of Ridge's pairings I could tolerate, and Joanna Johnson is great - happy to see her back as Faith)

Mind you, B&B has a long and tragic history of making great signings and doing eff all with them, so this is bound to be really great or a trainwreck...

But let's focus on the positive - 1 year renewal for GH!

Have just seen on SOD's Twitter feed that Jonathan Jackson is OUT at General Hospital - the rumour a couple of months ago was that they were axing him and Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina) - I said when Lexi announced she was out that it'd be interesting to see if JJ was next, and he is...

No word on whether there's ongoing to be a recast.... I'm just amazed at this!

Holy moly, this is great news to wake up to on a Thursday morning!!!

Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group announced today that Garin Wolf has been named head writer of ABC’s Emmy® Award-winning daytime drama, “General Hospital.” The appointment is effective immediately.

“Garin is a talented writer and storyteller who has been a part of the ‘General Hospital’ family for nearly 15 years. His in-depth knowledge and adoration for the show’s legacy will help make a smooth transition and an immediate impact on story,” said Frons. “I’m sure he will succeed in taking ‘General Hospital’ to new heights as he develops characters and storylines that will engage and thrill our viewers.”

Recipient of two Daytime Emmys®, Wolf has been working for the daytime drama since 1997 and over the years has held the roles of associate head writer, breakdown writer and script writer.  He has also written for SOAPnet's prime-time spin-off series, "General Hospital: Night Shift" and daytime drama "As the World Turns," as well as animated series "Batman" and "Tiny Toon Adventures." In addition, Wolf has won a Writer's Guild Award for his work on "General Hospital."

Carolyn Hinsey tweeted that Garin was a protege of the late great Douglas Marland, which can only be a good thing! And Nancy Lee Grahn has tweeted that Garin likes writing for women, so hopefully we'll see a change coming to Port Charles very soon!!

Not that I like celebrating the fact that someone lost their job, but this has been a long time coming and can only be good for the show.

Am linking this here, because its just too good not to. Ed Martin writes in the Huffington Post about the death of Jake on General Hospital, and he is not a fan....

"... this latest GH tale has done everything wrong: It has made viewers feel bad about the time they have invested in the Jake storyline during the last few years and killed off a character that was uniquely positioned to be at the center of dozens of compelling stories in the years to come. That's no way to improve a show or support a dying daypart."

General Hospital Tragedy: Has This Soap Finally Gone Too Far?
smiley_b: (gh_robin & stone)

Well, when we heard Becky was staying, there was speculation that someone else would go in her place - this morning, both SoapOperaDigest and SoapCentral on twitter are reporting that Tyler Christopher (Nik) was let go on Friday.

To be honest, the only thing that surprises me about this announcement is that the casualty wasn't Ingo Rademacher; especially after the way Jax called Sonny out after Clink!Boom!2.... that kind of truth telling usually brings dire consequences...

Have just read the latest GH spoilers on Daytime Confidential -

If these come to pass, I think I'll be done with this show once and for all - there are very few words that come to mind, but "creatively bankrupt" are definitely two of them!

Saw this online a few minutes ago - apparently TIIC at General Hospital have reversed their decision to write Rebecca Herbst out!

There's been no official word, but apparently Laura Wright (Carly) tweeted yesterday that she thought it was true.

I'm kind of amazed at this. And baffled. And wondering if after all this, they're actually going to write for Liz? And are we still going to have to sit through the (doubtless character assassinating) story that was meant to usher Liz off the canvas, or are they simply going to rip up whatever scripts they have and start again?

My twitter feed was literally exploding with this news when I checked it this morning - Becky Herbst (Liz Webber) has been fired from General Hospital.

According to the article on digitalspy (

"Storyline dictates the exit of Elizabeth Webber this spring. The next few months promise to be a "not to miss" story for the character. We at ABC and GH wish Rebecca Herbst nothing but the best in her future endeavours."

Dude, all I can say is - such bullshit. Why on earth did they bring back JJ if Lucky/Liz wasn't endgame? The whole thing makes no sense, especially as Liz actually has a story at the moment and hasn't been languishing on the backburner as she has in the past.

Hopefully another show will snap Becky up post haste.... reunion with Rick Hearst on B&B anyone???

Just saw this in TV Guide - Daniel Benzali (NYPD Blue, Murder One, Jericho) is joining General Hospital as a patient and will develop a friendship with troubled doc Robin Scorpio. However, there's more to him than meets the eye (it's a soap, of course there is!)

However, what really has me going WTF is the characters name.

And if you remember Murder One (okay, perhaps that's only me and [ profile] helsinkibaby ) the character he played on that was attorney Theodore "Ted" Hoffman.

And unless I'm very wrong, Murder One was produced by ABC, which also produces / airs General Hospital.

Someone tell me I'm completely barking up the wrong tree, that this is a complete and utter coincidink and that they're not resurrecting the Murder One character on GH? (Or, yanno, that the GH writers are lazy hacks who are completely devoid of originality. Either works)

This will really only interest [ profile] cheapevilgirl  and [ profile] misssimm  - its an interview from TV Guide online with Michael Sutton on returning to GH as Stone after 15 years.

I've gotten out of watching GH clips, but I will absolutely be YouTubing this!!

Am probably the last person on my f-list to have seen this; it's the promo that ABC are running for the return of Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo (Brenda Barrett) to General Hospital on August 11th.

This is a fantastic teaser - nothing concrete is revealed, but there's the hint of deep dark secrets from the seven years that Brenda has been away. (Seven years - seriously its been that long?!?!)

I think I shall be hitting YT next week...

smiley_b: (gh_greg)

From reading Twitter this morning, Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky, General Hospital) announced that he'd booked a recurring gig on The Mentalist.

No concrete details on who he's playing, but I'm just wondering if he's the new love interest for Van Pelt - Ausiello described the character: "Craig O'Loughlin: in his late 20's to early 30's, Craig is a football player turned FBI agent" - Greg would certainly fit that mould.

Plus, on a purely shallow note, he and Amanda Righetti would certainly bring the pretty!!

GH news...

So, General Hospital has made a few surprising announcments this week:
  • They're revamping the opening credits. (About bloody time!)
  • Bradley Cole is doing a stint as Keifer's father (Oy. Jeffrey O'Neill, my least favourite GL character)
  • Lindze Letherman is coming back as Ghost!Georgie, to council Maxie in her hour of need. (Okay, they bring Natalia Livingston (!) back as an entirely new character, but not Lindze - who can actually, yanno, ACT?! The mind it boggles)
But this morning's bit of casting news is the really surprising one to me: as We Love Soaps reports (LINK) Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Maya Ward, the great granddaughter of Edward Quartermaine. Apparently, the plot has Edward, who had an out-of-wedlock affair with Maya’s great grandmother, agreeing to pay for the young gal’s medical schooling. He persuades her to come to Port Charles and take an internship at General Hospital and move into the Quartermaine mansion. Look for Maya’s younger half-sister Zoe to also pop up further down the line. Word is, the beautiful Maya will be paired romantically with a Spencer.

So, let's break this down:
  • She's a Quatermaine
  • She's black
  • She's a medical student, so that means hospital scenes.
  • She's a Quartermaine
  • She's not connected to the mob in any way, shape or form.
  • She's going to be paired romantically with a Spencer. (Gotta be Lucky, yes?)
  • She's a Quartermaine.
Why do I feel like I should be hearing the hoofbeats of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?
