So, I spent today in Croke Park (home of Gaelic Football and Hurling in Dublin), but not watching sports, at an industry conference which was really interesting and inspiring and also meant I was out of the office for the day! (#win-win)

Tumblr Apocalypse....
Dec. 4th, 2018 09:04 pmIt’s very predictable that as soon as there’s a whiff of a Tumble apocalypse, I decide it might be a wise idea to resurrect my Dreamwidth/LiveJournal - I know it’s been quiet around these platforms over the last few years as most of us migrate to Tumblr; but if that’s going down the Swanee i’d like to still have somewhere to hang my fandom hat as it were, so here we go...
The other factor is that while Tumblr is great for rebooting gifs and pretty pictures, it’s not so great for actual conversations, which is something I have missed!!

Apr. 10th, 2017 07:55 pmIt's really weird how i post a meme 6 months ago, which is intended to get me posting again, and nothing happens; yet I get wind of an impending LJ apocalypse and here I am, posting away!!!
I've seen a lot of people deleting their LJ's over the last few days - I'm not going to do that at the moment, for 2 main reasons:
(1) Even though I'm posting mostly on tumblr now, LJ is still my oldest fandom home, and I'm not ready to let go of that yet, and
(2) I have a paid account until January of 2018, and I'm too pennywise and pound foolish to delete something that I've already paid up front for!! (In other words, I'm tight!)
However, the concept of agreeing to a translation of user T&Cs which may or may not be correct makes me fierce uneasy, so I'm going to be posting more on Dreamwidth and cross-posting to LJ (and depending on how much i keep this up, I might up to a paid account on DW, we'll see how things go.)

Memories of Strictly gone by....
Oct. 8th, 2016 01:40 pmBrendan Cole tweeted a link to this last night, the infamous Rebel Yell Pro Jive.
This is, hands down and without any doubt whatsoever, the best professional jive that Strictly has ever done. It's from the 2007 series, which also had the best professional roster Strictly has ever had (I still miss Matt Cutler, Darren and Lilia, Erin, Karen Hardy, Ian and Camilla).
Matt and Nicole choroegraphed this brilliantly, and the best thing about is it that you can tell the pros are having the absolute best time performing it - it's the kind of pro number that you don't see on Strictly anymore, which I think is a crying shame.

But tonight's episode of Red Rock..... Holy Mary Mother of God, that was the best hour of episodic tv I've seen in a long long time!
From the killer reveal to the twist at the end (which I half saw coming but then gasped out loud when I realised I hadn't!!) it kept me completely enthralled.... Just can't believe I have to wait a week for the next ep!!!

Dear God, the bad gags just write themselves, don't they? (am sure Bruno is practicing the double entendres as we speak - though in his case they may be single entendres....)
Looking forward to hearing the rest of the names.... Seeing as the Ed Balls rumor was right, I'm really hoping we'll also see Lesley Joseph (Dorian from "Birds of a Feather") and original Pop Idol Will Young be revealed....
Though no casting will ever top the glorious WTF-ness that was Daniel O'Donnell lady year!!!

In which I am flabbergasted....
Apr. 22nd, 2016 06:14 pmSo there's no denying 2016 has been an absolutely horrible year for celebrity deaths. This week was particularly brutal with Victoria Wood dying on Wednesday and then Prince dying yesterday.
But this is not what has my gast flabbered.
We were sitting in the canteen at tea break this morning, 6 girls around the table, and one says, "I never knew Prince wrote Nothing Compares 2 U for Sinead O'Connor" and all the others agreed, they didn't know that either.
And I thought to myself, okay, I'm about 6,7 years older than these girls, they're not big music fans or pop culture junkies, so you know, don't say anything, live and let live.....
And then one of the girls volunteers the fact that she always gets confused between Prince and Freddie Mercury.

I've been keeping up on ye olde friends list and reblogging like crazy on tumblr; but I've fallen off on posting here, mostly due to the fact I'm seriously behind on every single show I watch!! I'm blaming work - I changed roles within the company last August (people keep saying I got promoted, I keep referring to it as a lateral move with a slightly upward tilt!!) and am so mad busy that I can't keep up with anything!
That said, when my LiveJournal paid account came up for renewal in January, I considered letting it lapse - but when push came to show I couldn't go through with it! So I've re-upped for another year, so I'm determined to post and actually get value for my money!!
So this is the first of hopefully many posts.....

For those of you who don't know who Daniel is, he's a very very well known Irish singer, who is a favourite of mammies and grannies everywhere. He used to do an event every summer where he invited his fans to afternoon tea at his mammy's house in Kincasslagh, Co Donegal - the queues would stretch for miles!
In recent years, he married his wife Majella, who's just come through a well publicised cancer battle, and is showing a previously unknown dry humour in his interviews.
Let's put it this way, I have no idea if he can actually dance or not, but I think either way he is going to be enormously entertaining!!

Not only did Rumer and Val win the MBT (and really, that icon says it all!) but the returnees for Survivor 31: Second Chance were announced last night, and my Pearl Islands favorite is in there!!

May. 8th, 2015 09:08 pmIf you follow me on tumblr, you may have guessed that I loved the pairing of Meryl and Maks on last year's DWTS, and this routine is one of my favourites that they did.
Kudos to Maks, who choreographed something that was actually recognisable as a proper Viennese Waltz, and the music choice was just inspired (as soon as I heard this song, I thought it'd be perfect for a VW, and I was right!)
