So, General Hospital has made a few surprising announcments this week:

• They're revamping the opening credits. (About bloody time!)
• Bradley Cole is doing a stint as Keifer's father (Oy. Jeffrey O'Neill, my least favourite GL character)
• Lindze Letherman is coming back as Ghost!Georgie, to council Maxie in her hour of need. (Okay, they bring Natalia Livingston (!) back as an entirely new character, but not Lindze - who can actually, yanno, ACT?! The mind it boggles)

But this morning's bit of casting news is the really surprising one to me: as We Love Soaps reports (LINK) Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Maya Ward, the great granddaughter of Edward Quartermaine. Apparently, the plot has Edward, who had an out-of-wedlock affair with Maya’s great grandmother, agreeing to pay for the young gal’s medical schooling. He persuades her to come to Port Charles and take an internship at General Hospital and move into the Quartermaine mansion. Look for Maya’s younger half-sister Zoe to also pop up further down the line. Word is, the beautiful Maya will be paired romantically with a Spencer.

So, let's break this down:

• She's a Quatermaine
• She's black
• She's a medical student, so that means hospital scenes.
• She's a Quartermaine
• She's not connected to the mob in any way, shape or form.
• She's going to be paired romantically with a Spencer. (Gotta be Lucky, yes?)
• She's a Quartermaine.

Why do I feel like I should be hearing the hoofbeats of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

GH is in my bad books right now for setting up Elizabeth's THIRD who's the daddy storyline.

Couldn't they have just hidden RH's pregnancy!?

I refuse to believe any woman would manage to get herself into this situation 3 times.

DO NOT GET ME STARTED WITH HOW STUPID THAT STORYLINE IS!!!

Apologies for the all caps, but its utterly ridiculous - especially as she's a nurse!

They absolutely should have hidden the pregnancy - it wouldn't have been that difficult to do; large bags, creative camera angles, etc.

Stupid, stupid show!
