Oct. 23rd, 2008 08:54 pmI'm almost speechless... Dad came home from work a little while ago, and just sat down to go through the pile of post which has been accumulating on his desk for the last few days. And in the pile is an envelope with my name on it, obviously left on his desk so he could pass it on to me.
So I open the letter, and inside is a letter from an apprentice whose name I recognise but I can't put a face to! Basic gist of the letter is to say that he's handed in his notice and is leaving the company, but he wanted to thank me for getting his apprenticeship started with the company, it's been very benficial to him for the last two years.
This is one of the nicest things I've ever gotten - makes me think that maybe I wasn't a complete flop in the HR Department!!

Date: 2008-10-27 07:13 pm (UTC)Heading off to Perth for alomst 3 weeks, myself Mum and Dad. We're going over as a surprise for my auntie Bernadette (you met her when you were over for the wedding I think?) - it's her 50th, so she said she'd have a party if people from Ireland went out. Another of my aunts is going out with her husband and 12 year old daughter, but Pat (Bernie's husband) asked me if I'd go over to surprise her (she's my godmother and we'd be quite close) So I was looking at booking flights, and as Mum and Dad haven't been away at all this year because of Mum's arm, Mum had the idea that they'd go as well. (Bernie's been over there 19 years, and has given up hope of Mum and Dad going out, becuase every time she asks Mum, Mum says its too far to fly. So this is going to be a major shock for Bernie when we rock up on the doorstep!!)
The other cool thing is thta Nicole, ny cousin Patricks wife (they married last December) is expecting their first baby, due on November 14th. So it's going to be a really exiting time to visit them - I'm getting so excited, although I can't believe it's 2 weeks on Thursday!!!!!
How's the placement going for you?? Haven't been watching Merlin - though I think I read somewhere that Santiago Cabrera from Heroes is playing Lancelot (which would explain why I thought he looked familair when I flicked it on before Strictly!!) Maybe I shall look into downloading it to see if I can get into it.....

Date: 2008-10-27 09:41 pm (UTC)That sounds so lovely. Yes, I met Bernie - she was priceless. And it's going to be such a great surprise!
Aww - what great timing!
It's going all right. Took a bit of getting used to, but I'm settling in - the two hours of driving every day is a bit much though. :(
He was Lancelot in episode 5, and he was very good. It's a great family show, quite fun, and fits the Doctor Who slot nicely. Definitely give the first two episodes a go - the first is a bit slow to start.

Date: 2008-10-27 09:51 pm (UTC)Two hours of driving each day is a pain in the backside, there's no way else of putting it (especially now the clock's gone back!) Do you hvae someone in the car with you or are you on your own (have a vague memory of an LJ post you made saying there was someone esle going that way, but am too lazy to go back and check...)
Will add Merlin to download list - might not get it watched anytime soon (did I mention I'm going to Australia??) but will watch it at some point!!
And now, off tochange into jammies, get compfy in bed and watch new ep of Spooks!! (BBC NI are showing it an hour and a half later than the UK, so I need to get off-line before spoilers start getting posted!!!!)

Date: 2008-10-27 09:54 pm (UTC)My mother has a Richard Armitage obsession, so she's currently glued to the set in Devon. She even texted me to tell me what time it was on - bless! Enjoy!
