Just when you think GH can't surprise you any more, they do!!!

Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan, Y&R) and husband of Melissa Reeves (ex-Jennifer from Days) has been cast on General Hospital as Dr Steven Lars Webber. LINK

It's apparently a recurring gig (he'll commute from Nashville) and he's going to be the new Chief-of-Staff at the hospital.

OK, so TIIC have cast a doctor instead of a new mobster - given that James Franco's character has already been described as "Jason's worst nightmare", is it too much to hope that GH is swinging away from the mob storylines and back to the hospital it's named after???

And of course, I foresee a whole raft of "Missy returning to Days" stories in the future as well...

Despite how sceptical I was, it's now being said James Franco is to do with the Cassadines. How that fits in with him being Jason's worst nightmare I've no idea!

Also, kinda sad Shaun Benson isn't still playing Steven, I always thought he was really good. Plus he and Tamara had so much chemistry!

James Franco to do with the Cassadines.... don't think I'd heard that, but could it have something to do with Sam? (She is still Alexis's daughter isn't she? Or did they retcon that when I wasn't looking?)

I liked Shaun Benson as well, but I'm fairly sure I remember reading that they cut him loose because of a substance abuse problem - though that coiuld just have been a nasty vicious rumour that was going round (this was at a point in GH where the rumours of what was happening behind the scenes was more interesting than what happened on the show!)

Okay, I'm late to the game here, but that's what happens when your dumb like me and don't check you're flist often.

So, Ryan's coming back to the land of the soap? Or as Victor Newman often called him "That PUNK, McNeil!". God, I'm still reeling from learning that James Franco joined up - I don't even know what to say to that. You think ratings are gonna soar? :p

I think between JJ coming back and Franco and Reeves joining, GH's ratings probably are going to pick up - the real question will be if they can actually sustain it long term! Though an awful lot depends on the execution of their srorylines - let's face it, GH has a long history of having great actors / actresses and giving them utter dreck as storylines (Ric Hearst, Sarah Brown anybody?)

That said, I applaud them for putting in the effort - I think GH's cancellation really put the fear of God into the daytime industry; if they could cancel the longest running soap of all time, then truly no other show is safe.
