After going through all the complicated jigs and reels, changing out routers and IDU's, it turns out the power supply that was powering the router was faulty - as soon as that was changed out, the router and IDU lit up like Christmas trees!!

Of all the things to go wrong, it was the most simple, which is always the hardest to find.
