Have just spent the last two and a bit hours devouring Kim Zimmer's memoir I'm Just Sayin' : Three Deaths, Seven Husbands and a Clone - My Life as a Soap Opera Diva

If you are at all a fan of Guiding Light, you have simply got to read this book.

As you'd expect, there's a lot in it about the final days of GL, Kim doesn't mince her words when it comes to the subject of Ellen Wheeler, GL's Exec Producer for the last 5 years of it's life. On the other hand, she shares great anecdotes about a number of her co-stars, and there's a lovely chapter where she talks about co-stars who have since passed away (Beverlee McKinsey, Larry Gates, Chris Bernau and of course, the wonderful Michael Zaslow.)

Of course, there are stories she tells where she doesn't name names, but it's pretty obvious who she's talking about.... (the co-star who fell in love with every single one of her leading men was widely rumoured at the time....)

It's a hugely enjoyable read - cannot recommend it highly enough!

Good news - just read that Masi Oka has been promoted to regular status on season 2 of Hawaii Five O: this is good because (a) he and his character are awesome and (b) there is going to be a season two!!

In not so good news, I just spoiled myself (by accident, I was trying to be good!) for the season finale of Survivor Redemption Island, which aired in the states last night. Fiddlesticks.

And I still require an e-book buying intervention (Kindle for iPad is awesome. And evil.) Envelope from bank dropped in the door today - 99% sure it's my credit card bill and I'm almost scared to look at the blasted thing!!

Home alone for the weekend, I watched lots of tv - found a marathon of Hellcats yesterday morning; wound up watching eps 6-11 and have sourced all the eps that have aired after that; it's not a great show by any stretch if the imagination, but it's fun!! Kind of reminds me of season 1 of One Tree Hill (before it went to he'll in a hand basket and stopped being fun!!) Season finale airs this week, am keeping fingers crossed it gets picked up. Plus it has Sharon Leal (Dahlia!!) and DB Woodside (who along with Rob Lowe, has obviously done an anti-ageing deal with the devil, he has not aged one day since Murder One!!) - and his "You Rock My World" dance number was ridiculously hot!!

I was going to ramble about the goings on in Emmerdale, but that's a rant for another day (if I start I might not stop!!)

[livejournal.com profile] helsinkibaby is a bad influence.

Following her rave review of the Kindle for iPad app, I too downloaded it. And have been finding a very long list of books that are available on the Kindle that I can't get in the UK version of Books on Board. (Though Tina Sloans (Lilian, Guiding Light) memoir Changing Shoes is not available for download in the European region. Woe!)

I have downloaded Soapsuds, the novel by Finola Hughes (Anna Devane on GH) which is meant to be a fun read; and most excitedly the long out of print Eight Years in Another World by the late great Harding Lemay.

That funny sound you hear? My credit card, wailing in agony.
